Mixing Roots freut sich Theodore wie auch Leon of Athens für die 5 Jahre Mixing Roots Productions am 07 November 2017 in Musik und Frieden in Berlin dabei zu haben.
Theodore is a dynamic multi-instrumentalist, composer and performer. He fuses classical composition with electronic elements to create beautifully atmospheric and often cinematic songs. His unique mélange of influences, from Pink Floyd and Radiohead to a schooling in piano and traditional Greek folk music, has already taken him from Church Studios to supporting Sigur Ros at Release Athens Festival in 2016. Ηis debut album It Is But It’s Not has Theodore playing piano, guitar, synthesizer and glockenspiel, while his bandmates add rock instrumentation alongside an elegant string section. Written and arranged by Theodore the album was co-produced by Clive Martin (Queen, Reef) and mixed by Ken Thomas (Sigur Rós, Moby, M83) in London, and then performed live at the fabled Studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios. Out on United We Fly in 2016, It Is But It’s Not was met with great acclaim throughout Europe. Future plans include the release of his next album and live performances in Germany, France, UK, Poland and Sweden.
Leon of Athens
London-based Greek indie-pop experimentalist Leon Of Athens has released the video for his new single ‘Fire Inside You’. The song is the latest to be taken from his forthcoming album Xenos, produced by David Kosten (Bat For Lashes, Everything Everything), due out on January 19th. ‘Fire Inside You’ balances mesmerising guitars and ethereal electronics alongside Leon’s captivating vocals, addressing the powerful force of love across great distances. The song has been receiving support from BBC 6Music, with Tom Robinson at the station calling it, “A lovely song and vocal performance.”
Xenos is a beautiful piece of work, from the uplifting indie-pop of previous single ‘Aeroplane’ to the dark creeping electronics of the title track and ‘Serpents Egg’, Leon Of Athens proves himself an intriguing and exciting force.
He recently completed a sold out UK and European tour, which included a headline show at The Lexington, London. He will play live once again in the capital on November 17th. Tickets are available now through Ticket Web.
