Queer-feminist party-collective ¡MASH-UP! Multigender/Multiworld is hosting party-collective BATEKOO from São Paulo in Berlin on its first European tour! On October 25th ¡MASH-UP! is bringing Rio-funk star Deize Tigrona as well as two BATEKOO DJs (names tba) to perform live on stage at club Musik & Frieden (Schwarzes Zimmer).

Deize Tigrona is a “funkeira” and a peripheric black woman. One of the pioneers of Rio-funk (funk carioca), she began her career in 1999, quickly achieving enormous success with her lyrics, which unite the comic with the erotic, with a high dose of feminism and irony.
Deize Tigrona was one of the first Rio-funk performers to tour outside Brazil and work with international artists such as Tetine, M.I.A. and Diplo. The beat of M.I.A.’s worldwide hit „Bucky done gun“ had Deize’s track „Injeção“ as a base, which has leveraged Deize Tigrona to the status of queen of Rio-funk, making dance floors shake throughout Brazil, inside and outside the slums.
Now, celebrating her 20-year career, Deize Tigrona is back on stage as the main artist on BATEKOO music label. Deize Tigrona will be bringing a lot of news and fresh music in her luggage to the ¡MASH-UP! queer-party on October 25th in Berlin. Twerking guaranteed!

BATEKOO was born in Salvador de Bahia in 2014 as a party made by black producers for the black marginalized community. Nowadays, it turned into a movement, which aims to increase value and promote black culture and its aesthetics. Since its creation, BATEKOO has the goal to empower urban youth all over Brazil, focusing on creating a safe space to all minorities inside the LGBT*IQ community (especially the black ones), being able to reach thousands of people on national and international levels, as several newspapers and websites have shown, such as Folha de São Paulo, Estado de São Paulo, Hypeness, L’Homme Officiel, Fusion, Latinflyer.com, LogoTV, Fact Magazine, Sleek Magazine and Advocate, among others.
Since its beginning, all people involved in BATEKOO are from the black community. The sound is basically black music and its different genres from Brazil and the world. This scenario covers beats such as rap, hip hop, Brazilian funk, R&B, trap, urban, kuduro, reggae and many other music styles with black origins, as well as artists such as Linn da Quebrada, Beyoncé, Karol Conká, Buraka Som Sistema, Ciara, MC Carol, Kanye West, Criolo, Emicida, Titica, Furacão 2000 and remixes following the same spectrum.
BATEKOO’s environment is a mix of black parties from the ghettos of the US with Brazilian funk events from the favelas from each city where the parties are taking place. These are currently happening in the biggest capitals of Brazil: Salvador, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Belo Horizonte. Special editions were also made in Brasília, Goiânia and cities from the Bahian Recôncavo, among other places.
In 2018 BATEKOO won an award from Folha de São Paulo, one of the biggest Brazilian newspapers, as the best party in São Paulo. In 2019 BATEKOO appeared on the “Hot 100” list by Dazed and Confused, a British website on alternative culture and upcoming trends. Still in 2019, BATEKOO left Brazil for the first time, travelling to NYC, where it took part in two worldwide famous festivals line-ups: Central Park SummerStage Festival and AFROPUNK Brooklyn – the biggest black culture festival in the world, which has always been a reference for the BATEKOO brand.
Now BATEKOO will join forces with ¡MASH-UP! Multigender/Multiworld. Get ready for the hottest party of the year!

Bringing baile-funk’s culture to Berlin, its self-confidence and its way of celebrating as it is usual in Rio’s favelas, that’s the aim of musicians Tâmera Vinhas (BR) and Cara Muru (GE/BR) from La By’le. The whole thing goes in combination with other influences like German hip-hop, afro-pop, tecno-brega and slow reggaeton. Singles like “Kottibuceta” and” Total broke” were created on this path. Luana Madikera aka Madame Royal joined the group a short time later. The French-Caribbean dancer enriches La By’Le’s performance with her afro-house moves and backing vocals. Recently she has also started rapping her own passages in the songs, expanding the trio’s language spectrum to include French.
